Tosca was everything it promised to be. From the go we were relaxed. The villa is beautifully maintained and is a home away from home. It is obvious that the owners have taken great care to ensure our stay was exceedingly comfortable even down to portable deck chairs to take with us to the beach! It is wonderfully positioned for exploring the rest of the island and some of the best beaches are within walking distance (down the hill and across the road!). The housekeeper and pool attendant were exceedingly helpful with little hints on how best to prepare all the fresh fish we bought and caught (night shark fishing trip). If you've packed your suitcase, take half the stuff out as Malcolm and Annie have already thought of it! We'll certainly be going to Tosca again.

This was our first visit to the Caribbean and we all enjoyed it thoroughly (two adults, two teenage boys). I would like to thank Malcolm and Annie and this site for excellent advice.
Tosca is a home and Rhoda and Curtis made us feel welcome and comfortable. I was concerned about rainy season, mosquitoes and the like but found that apart from some really heavy showers which meant having to read under the verandah (such inconvenience!), and the usual wipes/sprays everything was just gorgeous.
We did a guided trip early in our stay with the very knowledgable Hewlette and that gave us the confidence to explore elsewhere on our own. Finding out which nights which restaurants were open was fun, and I'll be honest we didn't eat in because we didn't want to add to the temperature.
No hesitation in recommending Tosca as long as you don't want the weeks we want to return...

To say that Villa Tosca was superb would be a understatement, its a lovely location with great views,a very well appointed and decorated home from home, conveniently located only minutes(by car)from everything. To cap it all the owner and staff are all very helpful.
What more can I say !! WE LOVED IT

Just a little note to let you know that Jenny and I had a wonderful time in Tobago, and Tosca was a great place to stay. Everything was wonderful, from snorkeling at Arnos Vale, to watching humming birds at the Adventure Farm, to breakfast on the porch, to rum drinks & appetizers in the plunge pool after a long day out and about, to listening to your Frank Sinatra CD's, to Catherine, to meeting Bill & Kay, to the warm weather, to lunch at Shore Things, to dinner at the Fish Pot, to buying fresh fish on the beach and then grilling them for dinner, to the rainbows almost every day, to the hike on the Gilpin Trail, to our visit to Castera, to the drive up the Atlantic coast and on and on. It was tough coming back to the cold winter with knee deep snow and sub-freezing temperatures, but hey...must earn some cash to fund our next holiday!!
Once again, thanks...it was great,

Six of us spent a wonderful week at "Tosca" after attending a family wedding in Trinidad. We found the villa and its ideal location to be exactly as described in the review and in most of the reports.
My dealings with Malcolm Taylor were cordial and efficient throughout. Catherine is a gem! The villa was very comfortable for three couples. There was plenty of room to spread out on the deck / pool area (where we spent most of our time) yet we could retreat to our bedrooms or lounge area for privacy.
The "open larder" system in the kitchen works almost too well. Be sure to check expiry dates even on tinned goods. I think everyone is so pleased with the system that they go overboard in being fair about replacing what they have consumed.
If there are more than four in your group and everyone wants to explore the island, I would strongly advise renting a car so that each person or couple can come and go as they please.
All in all, ours was a perfect week and we look forward to returning to Tosca again – this time for a longer period of time!

What a beautiful place to stay for the new year. Stay was Dec 27-08 – Jan 3-09 We were a 4 minute drive down to the beach and there was a store, pizza and bar at the bottom of the hill. You could also rent surf boards.
The Villa is a perfect layout. Each bedroom is a nice size and has a good sized bathroom. The beds are already covered with nets for bugs but we didn't have an issue with them in the Villa as the windows were covered with screens.
There were items to take to the beach provided which was also great.
We plan to stay there again in 2010 when we go back.

Never having visited Tobago before and having rejected a package holiday in favour of booking our own choice of flight & villa was always going to be a risk however we were pleasantly surprised at just how easy it all was. May I first highlight the excellent communication received from Tosca's owners. Any queries were handled speedily and the financial transaction for payment was clearly outlined. The accompanying information booklet(known as The Bible)sent once the deposit was paid, was invaluable and previous guests were encouraged to add their own comments. Tosca itself benefits not only from a superb location overlooking a beautiful sea view but also from a well organised team to look after the villa and its surroundings. The housekeeper (Katherine) was friendly and efficient. All in all the Villa was the perfect base from which to explore and the plunge pool a welcoming extra at the end of a long hot day.

5th Visit In 2008 And Booked For 2009!
We've visited for a week every February since 2004 and have already booked for 2009, but for 2 weeks this time. We'll be accompanied by various friends and relations who've been with us there over the years and want to go back.
There's not a lot else to say that hasn't been said on other reports. To us it's a home-from-home and although we probably should try something else we love it so much we're as likely to just keep on coming back.

A wonderful experience.
The location in my view is excellent. You are away from the bustle that is Store Bay but still within easy access if need be. I really think the location to be ideal, the best of both worlds. Tosca serves as a good base to explore the other parts of the island.
Located at the bottom of the hill from Tosca are an ATM (godsend), and a small supermarket which will save you a longer run to say Pennysavers if you need anything.
The villa is laid out in a very pleasing fashion. The kitchen was nice, the dining and living room likewise and the bedrooms were fantastic. We especially enjoyed the verandah, and think that´s it really an added bonus that there are birds and lizards of all shapes and sizes that one can see without stepping out of the villa.
The plunge pool was enjoyed by all, nice when you want to relax after a “hard day” relaxing at the beach or if you prefer to turn turtle and never leave the villa at all during the day. This in itself is quite possible because the villa is so comfortable.
So to sum it up in one word: Excellent.
The only problem now, is that having stayed at Villa Tosca can´t think of visiting Tobago and staying anyplace else!
P.s. we were a party of six, three adults, and three children ranging from one up to eight

I cannot say enough @ Tosca, you have to go to believe it. First of all, I want to commend Malcolm & Annie for their thoroughness in their website information. It felt spot-on to what was actual, which is not always the case. The place is kept very clean, which is important to me for the sake of "debugging". I have always got bit on island trips, besides all precautions I take. On this one, I was not really bothered at all. Heaven. The pillows and beds were very comfortable, and Catherine (housekeeper) was great at doing whatever towels and laundry we wanted and how much we wanted it done. The A/C's were a bonus, and plenty of fans. I picked the place also because of the private splash pool, and we made the most of it!!! Kept very clean and refreshing!
Having the place located in Sanctuary Villa Estates is also a plus, because there is the security guard and gate 24 hours. I felt much better, not that it is dangerous, just more private and a good watch on things in general which I did not get the sense would be the case with other places I had looked into and then saw when we were there.

My husband and I have only just returned from Tobago and Tosca and we are pining. We have both had the best holiday ever. The island is wonderful, the people so friendly but it's more due to the fantastic accommodation. It rained for the bulk of our stay but it didn't matter as there was everything needed at Tosca. The house is fully equipped with everything needed and it's only a very short drive to beaches and restaurants.
It's also within walking distance to a fantastic restaurant, some local bars, a great pizza place (warranted a second visit), sports bar, local food and mini mart.
The house even has a bookcase with an excellent choice of books, boogie boards and snorkelling gear, HUGE bed in the master bedroom and an amazing housekeeper who keeps the place spotless.
It is so peaceful there, truly a winding down holiday. We had our honeymoon recently and it even topped that !

On arrival at Villa Tosca, all Helen and I could do was stare and grin at one another in open mouthed glee! This quickly morphed into screams of delight, followed by hugs, and enthusiastic splashing around the pool – soaking in the wonderment of our temporary but glorious home! As we had gone to the Caribbean to relax and de-stress, at first we couldn't imagine the need to venture beyond Villa Tosca. Inevitably, we did explore the glorious island and meet lots of friendly locals, however, it would not be beyond reason to spend two weeks in the villa, allowing the humdrum of British working life to just quickly melt away. Tosca is the nicest, and most comprehensive accommodation I have ever experienced on holiday, everything you could possibly require on your stay is provided – facilities too numerous to mention here. Although it is a cliché – it really is a home away from home. We really do owe a huge thank you to our gracious hosts Annie & Malcolm for their generosity in sharing their holiday home with us, and the 4x4 was just the icing on the cake – allowing you to explore the island in all its glory but speed back to Tosca should you be missing it too much!

We recently had the good fortune to stay at Villa Tosca at Sanctuary Villa Resort in beautiful Tobago . This was our first visit to Tobago and we were hoping for a nice relaxing time in the tropics but weren't quite sure what to expect. On first arriving at Villa Tosca, you are filled with an aura of warmth that comes from a home and not just a rental house. We were captivated by the view from the patio and the beautiful singing birds. The Villa was spacious and clean and met all our needs . Our maid, Catherine, was courteous and professional yet flexible in adjusting to our holiday schedule. We liked the location, which provided quick access to beaches at Stonehaven Bay and Mt. Irvine Bay. The Tosca website represented itself extremely well and everything was as described. In conclusion, we thank Malcolm and Annie for providing this wonderful villa and being great hosts from afar We look forward to a return visit in the near future. Villa Tosca is indeed a most comfortable retreat in a Tobagonian Tropical paradise.

Villa Tosca is a superb home from home with a wonderful distant view of the Caribbean Sea, a cooling private plunge pool and very comfortable furnishings. Self-catering gave us the opportunity to buy fresh fish and lobster from the Mount Irvine Wall fishermen and provided the freedom that even the most exclusive hotel just cannot deliver. After a trip to the Asa Wright Nature Centre in Trinidad we ended our visit to Tobago at the Tobago Hilton – and wished we were back "home" at Sanctuary Villas and Tosca just up the road!

We have just come back from two weeks at this lovely house. We always expected the holiday to be special as we planned to get married while on the island but it exceeded all our expectations. Tosca is a gem. It is beautifully furnished and equipped. It really was our home from home. We loved the location and spent many happy hours sitting on the terrace looking at the views out to Bucoo reef and watching the birds. Malcolm and Annie have thought of everything and manage to be excellent hosts even from thousands of miles away, even calling us to wish us luck and check that everything was O.K. We will certainly be going again and, after seeing our photographs, there will probably be a queue of people wanting to come with us!

We first went in Feb 2004, then Feb 2005, then Feb 2006. The second and third visits were like going back to our very own holiday home. The first 2 visits we travelled a lot, but this time didn't go far because so much is nearby…. I'd just say go on the beaches, take the boat trips, eat the food, and slow right down to an easier pace of life for a while. The house is brilliant. I wish it was mine!
